On May 6th 2020, the South African National Standards (SANS) 1812:2020 on washable, reusable sanitary towels was published by the South African Bureau of Standards. To ensure local manufacturers are in tune with the guidelines, the South African Bureau of Standards conducted a two-day training workshop from the 1st – 2nd of October 2020. It attracted 40 predominantly women owned local social enterprises. The training encompassed an overview of the Sanitary Dignity Implementation Framework by the Department of Women Youth and Persons with Disabilities.
